WHEN IT COMES TO CREATING AND WRITING I THINK..

Posted on November 21, 2014 at 8:53 PM
It's only partially true that you do comedy just for you. No question you should always write and perform what you think is funny... however, it is my understanding the art form itself if done successfully (inducing a laugh) is to be translated for an audience's acceptance.

Feelings outweigh thoughts.

Real creative creating, it should be feelings and imagery FIRST, writing thoughts after. Funny creative writing should spill out as if you're taking dictation, you need passion and emotions to drive that spilling.

You should keep in touch with yourself, after all you're never that far away.

The want to do something is not art, the need to do something could be.

Allowing some decisions to make themselves is a lost art. Relax, the answer will come.

When you meet somebody new you kind of try to size them up, get a grip on where they're coming from, figure out who they are and what they want? You should do that with yourself too.
